At St James the vast majority of our business involves finding the perfect car for our customers. We achieve this using both our extensive network of contacts throughout the UK and Europe which we have built up over many years and also our ability to appraise and describe a car accurately. The process for finding the perfect car for you is outlined below:

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS:

We supply both new and used vehicles of all makes and models for our customers.

NEW CARS

Often there are discounts available on new cars which are not readily advertised to the general public, known as dealer support. Because we buy such a large number of vehicles throughout the year means that we can negotiate large discounts and in turn pass this saving on to you, our customer.

We also deal with many lease companies who often agree to buy a certain number of cars a year direct from Manufacturers in order to secure a large fleet discount on the cars that they buy. We can purchase these vehicles at a fleet discount and pass this on to you. This benefits the lease company as it helps them purchase their allocation and also you the new owner as you will have a cheaper new car!

We also source rarer cars for our customers using a variety of means. To beat long waiting lists on such cars we order them in advance to increase their availability. We also source many cars direct from the manufacturer in Europe to keep both prices down and lead times short wherever possible.

USED CARS

We source our used cars in a variety of ways for our customers, always using the same exacting standards to make sure that your new car is the best available.

Each preowned vehicle is individually inspected and tested by ourselves maintaining the same high standards that we always use to purchase every vehicle. To see this for yourself you are welcome to visit our premises and inspect the used cars we have for sale to see how high our standards are. If you are not pleasantly surprised we would be amazed!

We source our cars using a variety of means, buying direct from source from other companies we deal with and have established advantageous buying terms with, and also buying cars for sale at dealerships throughout the country saving you time having to look at many different cars and wasting days traveling all over the UK finding your next car.

Furthermore we have an email network set up which means that we can mail hundreds of dealers throughout the UK letting them know of cars we are looking for which means that your new car can arrive quicker than you think!

Simple: Fill in the form here, click send and we will contact you shortly to discuss your requirements. We always contact our customers before starting our searches for two reasons. Firstly you will have a specific person as a point of contact who will look after your needs both during and after the buying process so that the process is more comfortable. Secondly we need to qualify your requirement to enable us to deal with your needs promptly.

Once we have found your new car using the means which we have outlined above, we will contact you to get your approval and then secure the vehicle. At this point we will require a holding deposit for the car (normally this is 10% of the vehicle cost) and we will then arrange collection. Upon a visual inspection of the car we will contact you to describe it fully and accurately to gain your approval prior to purchasing it on your behalf.

IF THE CAR FAILS TO MEET OUR STANDARDS WE WILL NOT BUY IT.  

As a company we do not feel comfortable selling inferior vehicles. We have spent 25 years plus supplying the best cars we can find and do not need to change that policy now. If this means that we have a wasted trip then so be it. Our buyers are paid not on a commission basis but salaried so that there is no pressure on them to buy an inferior vehicle. If the car is not up to our standards we obviously refund any deposit immediately and start looking again. 

Once we have returned the car to our premises you are welcome to inspect it yourself. If the car does not match up to our description we will happily refund your deposit. This has never happened to us. Should a dispute arise we will arrange for an independent inspection by someone acceptable to both parties (we generally recommend an AA inspection) and will accept their recommendations. Should we be at fault we will pay for the inspection and refund your deposit. Should the vehicle be deemed to be acceptable we will ask you to pay for the inspection. Should you still not wish to proceed then your deposit will be sacrificed.

Once the vehicle has been returned to our premises we perform a full 120 point pre-sale inspection on it, carrying out any work that is deemed necessary, valet the car and arrange a collection time.
All vehicles that we supply come with a minimum 10 month MOT (if necessary) and 12 months warranty. Should you desire, the warranty can be extended to up to 48 months at an extra cost.    

Once your new car is ready we will arrange a suitable handover time to present you with your new car. Should you require the car to be delivered this can be arranged at an agreed cost.

Should you be extremely satisfied with your new purchase please recommend us to friends and family. If they buy a new vehicle from us we will send you a surprise gift!
